4 against 4 in a square with a focus on dribbling a line

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

A square is marked with cones, which split off 1/8 of the game field. Two teams of four are formed to play against each other.

Procedure

The goal of the teams is to dribble the ball over the baseline. If a team succeeds, they receive one point and remain in possession of the ball. Then the player immediately tries to dribble across the opposite line. The team that is not in possession of the ball tries to conquer the ball and score points themself.

Tip

- Triangles have to be formed again and again to offer pass options. - The passing game alternates between many short passes, side shifts and passes in depth. - The teams should be in constant movement. The players constantly try to offer themselves and to be available to their fellow players as a pass option. - The team without the ball tries to block the pass routes and rooms skillfully and exerts pressure on the player in possession of the ball and his teammates. - The players should be in an open play position (outline in the back) so that you can always keep an eye on the next pass. - This form of play requires an enormous amount of running and understanding of the game and is characterized by constant communication and an interplay between the two squares. - This form of play trains the short pass game, play in tight spaces, passes in the back of the defense and quick side changes. - The team in possession of the ball should have occupied the outsides and the back area as well as a player who moves at the level of the defense formations to play passes in depth. - 4 cones
