4 plus1 versus 3

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Set up a box of 15m x 15m with four outer cone goals (distance: 2m) as described in the graphic.

Procedure

Play 4 plus 1 versus 3 with the aim to keep the ball. After an interception the defence becomes the offense and try to score at one of the outer cone goals. After the ball leaves the field or the defence scores, the coach provides a new ball. 4 player of the majority team (red) take the positions on the side lines, the fifth one is in the middle. Concentration on variable and precise passing on the ground with the instep. After losing the ball the defence has to pressurize the opponents trying to defend the goals with the aim to win the ball back.

Variations:

- Only 2 or 1 touches

- Diminish (more difficult) or enlarge (easier) the field size

Tip

Is a player covered by an opponent and therefore not available he has to move in order to be open for the pass. Is the defending opponent still guarding him, the offense has the chance to play into the middle and to use the majority. The players at the side lines should permanently move and call for the ball.
