A playing field with two goals is set up as shown in the diagram. Each half contains one team of 4 players. The balls are distributed to the goals. It can be played with or without a goalkeeper.
Procedure
The two teams play against each other. Goals can only be scored by headers. The service is a volley kick from the hand and may not be blocked with the hand. Only the head, torso, and legs are allowed for winning the ball. If the ball hits the ground or goes out of bounds, possession changes. The goalkeeper may catch the ball with his hand and initiate a counter. The aim is to finish with a header using as few touches as possible. After losing the ball, quick counterattacks should be launched. The player with the ball may not bounce it on the ground and may not take more than three steps with the ball.
Tip
- Demand the simple ball to the nearest player while still leaving room for creativity. - Pay attention to off-the-ball movement to create passing options. - Very similar game situations to actual football. - Recognise the game situation; if one side is blocked, rebuild from the back. - If the opposing team is massed in front of your goal, draw them out. - Show the players that this game format trains many skills needed in football. - It is crucial that the throws are accurate (if necessary, with both hands). - The contact surface for the header is the forehead. - Momentum for the header comes from the arched back (bow tension of the upper body). - For diving headers or headers after a jump, push off from the balls of the feet. - In heading duels, ensure fair challenges (no elbows). - Demand physical contact. - Defending players try to either get to the ball before the attacker or position themselves between the attacker and the goal to defend from there. - Demand quick counterattacks. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
