A field half the size of a half is marked out with cones. Two teams of 4 are formed to play against each other.
Procedure
The teams' task is to get from one quarter into the other. They have two options: a) They can play a pass into the other quarter that must be controlled by a teammate there. However, the teammate may only enter the other quarter after the passer has played the ball. b) They play their way into the other quarter using a one-two, with 2 touches, or by dribbling into the other area (rectangle). If successful, the team earns a point and keeps possession. After each point, the players move to the half where the pass, dribble, or one-two occurred, and immediately restart in the other direction without a break.
Tip
- Triangles must be constantly formed to provide passing options. - The team without possession tries to cleverly close passing lanes and spaces and applies constant pressure on the player in possession and nearby opponents. - Getting locked into a tight space should be avoided. Therefore, switching the point of attack and through balls should be played regularly. - Passing targets should adopt an open body position (sideline at their back) so they can always see the next passing option. - This game format requires an enormous amount of running and tactical understanding and is characterised by constant communication and interplay between both rectangles. - This game format trains short passing, playing in tight spaces, and quick switches of play. - The team in possession should have the flanks and back covered, along with a player moving at the level of the defensive line to receive through balls. - 6 cones
