A goal is placed on the goal line. On the midfield line, 3 equally sized cone goals are set up with equal spacing. Two teams are formed (blue and yellow) that play against each other on one half of the field. Team blue consists of 5 players, team yellow of 7. The full-size goal has a goalkeeper.
Procedure
Team blue plays in a 3-2 formation, attacks the three cone goals, and has the goalkeeper to defend their own goal. Team yellow plays in a 2-3-2 formation and attacks blue's full-size goal. The offside rule applies; both teams have free play. After every successful attack and after every attack that ends with the ball going out behind the goal, play restarts from the midfield line with the yellow team. The same applies when team blue has defended yellow's attack and successfully finished in one of the three cone goals.
Tip
- The focus of this game format is on practising the movement patterns of the back three + two midfielders on a half field with the options of 'quick transition from defence to attack' or ball control after winning the ball. Additionally, this game format trains playing in numerical advantage against a defensive line with two defensive midfielders, with the emphasis for the team with numerical advantage on pressing immediately after losing the ball. - Attention should be paid to precise and powerful passing/attacking play. - Seek 1v1 situations on the flanks. - Apply through balls and diagonal switches of play. - The outnumbered team is positioned well when the opponent's ball carrier cannot play the ball forward and is prevented from dribbling through double-teaming. - 9 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
