6+2 vs. 4 with Counter-Pressing

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players

Setup

• 4 cones (to mark the playing field)

The players should be divided into two teams. Team A consists of 8 players, team B of 4 players.

Procedure

Team A (yellow) has six players on the outside and two players inside the field.

Team B (4 players) chases the ball, while team A tries to maintain possession with a maximum of two touches per player.

If team A is in possession, the six players on the outside can't enter the inside of the field.

If team B wins the ball, team A immediately counterpresses and tries to win the ball back.

At that point, the six players on the outside are also allowed to enter the field.

Players of team B should try to dribble the ball out of the field.

However, if team A's counter-pressing is successful and they win the ball back, the game continues.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• Players on the outside should focus on vertical passes to split the opponent's line of defense

• Outside players after losing the ball: Every one of the 8 players should counterpress instantly

• Players in the center: Directly apply pressure after losing the ball
