7 vs 3

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 10-15 players

Setup

Set up a field with 2 goals as shown in the diagram. One goalkeeper per goal. One team of 7 players and one team of 3 players are formed.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn nnnnnnnnnnnnn

Procedure

The game is played 7 vs 3. The teams' objective is to score goals. Team red has free play; team blue plays with a maximum of two touches.

Tip

- The team without possession tries to cleverly close passing lanes and spaces. - Getting locked into a tight space should be avoided. Therefore, switching the point of attack and through balls should be played regularly. - Passing targets should try to adopt an open body position so they can always see the next passing option. - This game format requires an enormous amount of running and tactical understanding and is characterised by constant communication. Additionally, it trains short passing, playing in tight spaces, and quick switches of play. - The team in possession should have players covering the flanks, the centre, and the half-spaces. - When the wide player has the ball, they should start a dribble toward goal while a second teammate makes an overlapping run. This gives the player in possession multiple options (dribble, pass to the flank - striker - back space, or cross/shot on goal). - 8 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
