8 against 6+ goalkeepers with staked out zones

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

Construct a field from the baseline to the opposite penalty area. In front of the goal on the penalty area line, a zone is marked, which later acts as a 'free zone' for the attacking team. Two teams (blue and yellow) are formed and play against each other. The blue team consists of 8 players, the yellow team of 6. There is a goalkeeper positioned in both goals.

Procedure

The players play without restriction of ball contact, the offside rule applies. The blue team tries to create spaces by skillful passing a ball into the zone so that it can be controlled by a teammate, or to get into the zone by dribbling. The property of the zone is that no player of the defending yellow team is allowed in, so the blue team has free play there. The yellow team therefore tries to put the blue team under pressure as early as possible and to prevent any pass and / or walking routes into the zone. The focus here is on the midfield / attack pressing of the outnumbered team and on solving pressure situations in short numbers with quick countermeasures as a follow-up action.

Tip

- The focus of the game is on the one hand on learning the routes of the four-defense chain + two defensive midfielders with the options to score a goal or to build ball control when in possession of the ball. On the other hand, this type of game trains the majority to play a four-back chain with two central midfielders. - The overpowered team plays against the underpowered team pressing and tries to get into zone 1 with a quick, precise passing game. Or to practice 'fast switching from defense to attack' when the ball is won. - The undersize team is in a good position if the opposing player who is in possesion of the ball cannot play the ball forward and is prevented from dribbling by doubles. - 5 cones, 2 large field goal (s)
