8 against 6 in alternation

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

A goal is placed in the middle of the base line and a goal in the middle of the center line. Two teams of 8 are formed; there is a goalkeeper in both goals.

Procedure

Both teams play against each other, with one team always having 8 and the other 6 players on the field. The defending team starts with 6 field players, the attacking with 8. The two players of the defending team who are not involved in the game run a round around the whole place. As soon as they have completed a round, two players from the other team must complete a round, etc.

Tip

- The focus of this form of play is on the one hand on learning the routes in the defense network with the follow-up actions 'quick switching from defense to attack' and ball control after winning the ball. On the other hand, the freewheeling game with the goal of scoring a goal is rehearsed for the team in possession of the ball. - The goal for the defenders is either to get possession of the ball or to push the attacker who has the ball to the side into the goal-safe area and to block the pass route to the goal / to the teammate by double or indenting. The midfielder tries to double or to block the pass. - On the offensive, permanent movement and a fast, precise passing game are required. According to the 2-4-2 formation (variable 4-3-1 etc.), the players should be staggered in depth and consequently moving on a line should be avoided (depth staggering means creating play options). The outside lane players should use the width of the field and be positioned on the outside line. - If the attack is carried out by the outside lane players, the players try to run from behind in the half-field or act as passport recipients and flankers in the back area. The outside player has the option to dribble, cross or pass the ball on. - Passes in depth (on the strikers) make the defense chain move forward. Moving the ball to the outside forces the defense chain to move forward to the side. The result is that the attacking team is given rooms in depth, as well as the opportunity to pass through a diagonal ball on the vacated side. - The attack must be completed under a certain time pressure. Because once the two outside players have circled the field, they come into the game and the team in possession of the ball goes to the overpowered team. Thus, their task in ball control changes in numbers. - 2 large field goal (s)
