8 against 8 + goalkeeper on four goals

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

The game is played on one half of the field. On the center line and on the baseline, two goals are set up at equal distances from each other. There is a goalkeeper in each goal. The center of the field is marked with cones. Two teams (blue and yellow) of 8 players each are formed, who play against each other. The offside rule applies.

Procedure

The team in possession of the ball plays in the 2-4-2 formation, the defending team with two four chains in the 4-4-0 formation. Both teams have to defend their two goals and start attacks on the opposing goals. It is important to switch from attack to defensive and vice versa. If the ball is in possession, the teams have to try to make room for their attacking game by skillful vertical and horizontal passing and to finish on one of the two opposing goals. For this it is necessary that the outside players move out to the outside line in order to make room in the center and make the pass playable. It is important that as soon as a side has become 'stuck', diagonal flying balls cause a change of sides and thus a shift in the game. The strikers are staggered. The striker close to the ball runs towards the ball, the second striker offers himself in depth. The two central defenders stand clearly apart from the rest of the team, thus holding the game in front of them, offering security and always remaining playable when the pass routes of their teammates are blocked. The two semi-central midfielders are also offset. One alternately takes over the more defensive part, the other more offensive. Basically, the attacking team should try to keep the opposing team at a distance from their goals and, if possible, force them to be engaged in the defense of a goal in the entire team and thus neglect the second. In this case, the diagonal side change (played hard and played in the path) must take place towards the outside player, who can then start to drift to the free goal. In a defensive position, the team moves into the two-line formation 4-4-0. The two lines are compact. When the player closest to the ball leaves the line system in order to exert pressure on the ball-carrying player, the two line neighbors move inwards in order to adjust the pass routes in depth. After winning the ball, you have to switch quickly and realign your game system in depth and width.

Tip

- The focus of the game form is on the one hand on learning the routes in the defensive network with the options of 'quickly switching from defense to attack' or the ball control after winning the ball. On the other hand, this form of play trains the playing of two chains of four. - The two defensive chains of four always act together and shouldn't be too far apart. - The defending team is in a good position if the opposing player in possesion of the ball is unable to play the ball forward and is prevented from dribbling by a doubble. - On the offensive, permanent movement and a fast, precise passing game are required. According to the 2-4-2 formation, the players have to be staggered in depth and consequently moving on a line must be avoided (depth staggering means creating play stations). The outside lane players should use the width of the field and be positioned on the outside line. - Care should be taken to ensure a precise and powerful pass / attack game. - 4 small field goal (s), 3 cones, 4 large field goal (s)
