A field with 3 zones is marked out with cones, with a goal set up at each end. There is a goalkeeper in each goal. Two teams of 8 (red and blue) are formed. The balls are distributed between the goals. Zones: Zone 1: Defensive zone red / Attacking zone blue Zone 2: Midfield zone Zone 3: Attacking zone red / Defensive zone blue
Procedure
The two teams play against each other with the objective of scoring. Team red starts with possession. The build-up always goes through one of the two centre-backs, who has 3 options to open play: 1) Long ball into the run of the left wide striker, 2) Long ball to the centre forward, 3) Long ball into the run of the right wide striker. The blue team tries to prevent team red from building up. As soon as team red enters the attacking zone (Zone 3), the entire red team pushes up and plays on the attack. Team blue, however, may only defend with 5 players in their own defensive zone (Zone 3). This creates an 8 vs 5 situation. After the attack is completed, team blue opens the next attack. Alternative: Touch restrictions in the zones.
Tip
- The playing options after winning the ball are predetermined. - The midfield should be bridged quickly. - The wide players must be focused and look for the quickest path to goal. - After winning the ball, the team with numerical superiority must immediately transition forward. - 6 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
