A goal is placed centrally on the end line and a goal centrally on the halfway line. Two teams of 8 are formed; both goals have a goalkeeper.
Procedure
Both teams play against each other, with one team always having 8 players and the other always having 6 players on the field in alternation. The defending team starts with 6 field players, the attacking team with 8. The two uninvolved players of the defending team run one lap around the entire field. As soon as they have completed one lap, two players from the other team must run a lap, etc.
Tip
- The focus of this game form is on practising defensive running patterns with the follow-up actions of 'quick transition from defence to attack' and ball control after winning the ball. Additionally, the team in possession practices off-the-ball movement with the aim of scoring a goal. - The objective for the defenders is either to win possession or to push the ball carrier into a non-dangerous area to the side and block his passing lane toward the goal/teammate through double-teaming or tucking in. The midfielder tries to double-team or block passing lanes. - On offence, constant movement and quick, precise passing is required. A staggered depth of players in a 2-4-2 formation (variable 4-3-1 etc.) should be maintained, and moving in a flat line should be avoided (depth staggering means creating passing options). The wide players should use the full width of the field and position themselves near the sideline. - When the attack is carried through the wide players, players from the half-space try to overlap or act as receivers and crossers in the space behind. The wide player has the option to dribble, cross or pass the ball on. - Through passes in behind (to the forwards), the defensive line is pushed into a forward movement. By then switching the ball to the flanks, the defensive line is forced to shift forward and sideways. This creates space in behind for the attacking team and also opens up the opportunity for a diagonal ball to the free side. - The attack must be finished under a certain time pressure. Because when the two players running outside have completed their lap around the field, they enter the game and the team in possession becomes the outnumbered team. This changes their task to ball retention while outnumbered. - 2 full-size goals
