A field with 3 zones is marked out with cones. A goal is set up on each end of the field, with a goalkeeper in each. 2 teams of 8 players are formed. In the two zones in front of the goals, teams have free play; in the middle zone, touches are limited to 2. The balls are distributed between the goals.
Procedure
The 8-player teams play against each other with the objective of scoring goals. The players on each team are distributed across the zones as follows: 2 defenders each in the zone in front of their own goal, 4 midfielders each in the middle zone, and 2 strikers each in the zone in front of the opposing goal. Players may not leave their zones. Due to the zones and their touch restrictions, players are motivated to quickly bridge the 2-touch middle zone with only a few passes. From the middle zone, the ball must be played into the attacking zone; it may not be passed back to the defence.
Tip
- The focus of this game format is on fast play with long balls into the attacking third. - The teams should be in constant motion. Players constantly try to make themselves available as passing options for their teammates. - The team without possession tries to cleverly close down passing lanes and spaces, constantly pressuring the player on the ball and those around him. - This game format requires an enormous amount of running and tactical understanding, characterised by constant communication. It also develops long-range passing and fast counterattacks. - 8 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
