A field with 3 zones is marked out with cones. A goal is placed at each end with a goalkeeper in each. Two teams of 8 (blue and red) are formed. The balls are distributed between the goals. Zones: Goal-near zones: Free play. Only the two defenders and two strikers, plus a third attacker who has completed a successful dribble from the middle zone into the attacking zone, may be in these zones. Middle zone: Mandatory dribbling for the player on the ball. Passes are only allowed backward. The middle zone may only be exited forward into the goal-near zone by dribbling within 5 seconds.
Procedure
8 vs 8 is played, with players assigned to zones (see diagram) not allowed to leave them (exception: a player from the middle third dribbles into the attacking zone within the 5-second dribbling phase). Fixed man-marking is used. Play is started by the goalkeeper, who must play to one of his defenders. The defender plays into the middle zone to a teammate, who must immediately start dribbling. If he fails to dribble into the attacking zone, he must pass the ball backward after 5 seconds. This continues until a midfielder manages to dribble into the attacking third and play out a 3 vs 2 attacking situation, or until the defending team wins the ball and tries to dribble into their own attacking third.
Tip
- The defenders try to close down spaces and block passing lanes during the build-up. - When a player has the ball, his opponent marks him and a 1 vs 1 situation develops. - After winning the ball, the defender immediately becomes an offensive dribbler. - The teams should be in constant motion. Players constantly try to make themselves available as passing options for their teammates. - This game format is characterised by constant communication and a constant interplay between attack and defence. - The player on the ball must repeatedly beat his opponent 1 vs 1 and try to finish. - After completing the offensive action, the team must immediately switch to defence, as the ball winner or goalkeeper initiates the counterattack. - 8 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
