One half of the field is divided into four equal quadrants with cones. Two teams of 8 players are formed. Four players from each team go together into one quadrant, so that 4v4 can be played in two of the four quadrants.
Procedure
Initially with one ball, a 4v4 is played in one of the quadrants. By playing a pass directly into the neighboring quadrant to a teammate, the play can be switched and a point is scored simultaneously. The second option to play teammates from the other group of four and score a point is to play a pass into one of the empty quadrants. The ball must be run down and controlled there by a teammate from the other group. However, the receiver may only start into the quadrant after the pass has been played. The team without possession constantly tries to win the ball. Note: Start with one ball first, then a second ball can potentially be added later.
Tip
- A combination and movement game should be played, using the full width and depth of the field. - Triangles must constantly be formed to create passing options. - The team without possession tries to cleverly close down passing lanes and spaces and constantly applies pressure on the ball carrier and his nearby teammates. - Getting stuck in tight spaces should be avoided. Therefore, switches of play and through balls to another quadrant should be played regularly. - The passing options should take an open body position (with the sideline at their back) so they can always see the next passing option. - This game format requires an enormous running volume and game intelligence and is characterised by constant communication and a constant back-and-forth between the quadrants. - This game format develops short passing play, playing in tight spaces, and quick zone switches. - 9 cones
