9 against 9 in a rectangle

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point

Setup

A field is marked out with cones according to the graphic. Two teams of 9 are formed (red and blue).

Procedure

The two teams play against each other. The aim of the teams is to remain in possession of the ball as long as possible after winning the ball and to build up a fast and precise passing game. Main focus: - Free play - 2 contacts - 1 contact

Tip

- The team in possession of the ball must be staggered so that all sides of the field and the center of the field are occupied. - Triangles have to be formed again and again to offer play options. - The passing game alternates between many short passes and occasional long passes to shift the play zones. - Both teams should constantly be on the move. The players constantly try to offer themselves and to be available to their fellow players as a pass option. - The team without possession tries to block the pass routes and rooms skillfully and puts constant pressure on the player in possession of the ball and his teammates. - A long play in a narrow space should be avoided. Therefore, the individual sides must be occupied so that a width or depth pass is possible at any time. - The side players should take an open game position (outline in the back) so that you can always keep an eye on the next pass options. - This form of play requires an enormous amount of running and understanding of the game and is characterized by constant communication. - 4 cones
