9 vs 9 in 3 Zones

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point, End
  • Number of Players 10-15 players, 16-22+ players

Setup

Pitch: Cones divide the pitch into three zones; at the ends there are two goals.

Equipment: 2 goals, cones and several balls.

Players: Two teams of nine players each; each team has three defenders, three midfielders and two strikers in the zones. In addition goalkeepers.

Procedure

Variation 1: The players may not leave their zone; the ball has to be passed into the next zone.

Variation 2: Play is free. Every team gets ten moves; the ball may not be passed back into a zone behind. The evaluation is who scores the most goals.

Note: After balls out of play, after goals and at the start of the game, play is started by the goalkeepers.

Variations: Dribbling into the middle third is allowed; as soon as a pass is played there, the player goes back into the third they actually belong to.

Tip

  • Play out the numerical advantage in the build-up.
  • The central centre-back operates slightly deeper than the right and the left centre-back.
