A field is marked out with cones as shown in the diagram. Two teams of 9 are formed (red and blue).
Procedure
The two teams play against each other. The teams' objective is to maintain possession as long as possible after winning the ball and build up a quick and precise passing game. Focus areas: - Free play - 2 touches - 1 touch
Tip
- The team in possession must be staggered so that all sides of the field and the centre are covered. - Triangles must be constantly formed to provide passing options. - The passing game alternates between many short passes and occasional long passes to shift the zones of play. - Both teams should be in constant motion. Players continuously try to make themselves available as passing options for their teammates. - The team without possession tries to cleverly close passing lanes and spaces and applies constant pressure on the player in possession and nearby opponents. - Getting locked into a tight space should be avoided. Therefore, each side must be covered so that a wide or through pass is always possible. - The wide players should adopt an open body position (sideline at their back) so they can always see the next passing option. - This game format requires an enormous amount of running and tactical understanding and is characterised by constant communication. - 4 cones
