Alternating Speed Shooting on Goal

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Set up two opposing goals (I+II) and two cones as shown. The same number of balls are placed side by side at the same height as the cones. One player stands at each row of balls.

Procedure

Both players start simultaneously on the coach's command with their shots. The blue player starts on goal I, the red player on goal II. After each shot, they switch to the nearest ball in the other row and thus shoot alternately on both goals. Whoever scores more goals at the end wins.

Tip

- Pay attention to correct body posture when shooting: upper body over the ball; plant foot approx. 30-40 cm offset to the side of the ball, foot pointing in the shooting direction; arms swing along; the arm closest to the kicking leg follows the leg's backswing motion, the other is brought forward; eyes are on the ball at the moment of the shot. - Always have shooting drills performed with both feet. - Different shooting techniques (inside-of-the-foot shot, instep shot, curling, etc.) can be practised (possibly on the coach's instruction). - Both players must ensure they finish approximately at the same time. - The coach must, if necessary, keep the tempo high through encouragement or time targets. - After each round, the waiting players rebuild the drill and the next two players start. - 2 cones, 2 full-size goal(s)
