Attacking Play on the Wing

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

• 4 cones (to mark attacking zone on the wing)

Three attacking players are positioned in the attacking zone on the wing.

Procedure

The attacking players receive a pass from a player outside of the attacking zone.

They will start attacking on the wing against two defenders.

Their goal is to dribble or pass themselves behind the yellow cone (see graphic) and cross the ball into the penalty area.

The player that played the original pass into the attacking wing zone tries to convert the ball inside the box.

Tip

Coaching Points:

• Attacking players have to be quick and precise in their passing to beat the defenders

• Cross should be played immediately after passing the yellow cone

• Defenders: Should defend the space and passing lanes, not the players themselves
