A rectangular field the width of the penalty area and the length from the end line to the centre circle arc is marked out with cones. 4 groups of 3 players are formed and positioned at the 4 cones of the green-shaded area of the field as shown in the diagram. An additional player stands at the halfway line acting as the server. A goalkeeper is in the goal, the balls are with the server.
Procedure
The players from groups C, D, and A are the attackers, the players from group B are the defenders. It is always played 3v1. A plays the ball into the green-shaded area, whereupon the starting players of all 4 groups run into the area and try to win the ball. If the attackers get the ball, a 3v1 is immediately played on the goal. A triangle should be formed with emphasis on overlapping runs, through balls, 1v1s, and one-twos. The defender tries to prevent the attackers from scoring. The offside rule applies in the rectangle. The attacking team must finish the attack within 10 seconds. Only the green-shaded area counts as the field. This means the defender may not leave this area and only one attacker may enter the penalty area. The players in the rectangle have one touch. If a pass reaches an attacker in the penalty area, the striker must finish as quickly as possible. Attack variation: The player in the back space passes to the left wing and the player there passes directly into the channel for the onrushing right winger.
Tip
- The pass should be played into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The passer must observe the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The check-away move of the pass receiver starts with the passer's backswing. - When playing a pass to beat a defender, the correct passing side should be used. If a player wants to pass the ball to the left of the opponent, he should use the left inside of the foot. - The team with the numerical advantage must finish as quickly as possible. - The players should immediately occupy both wings and the centre/back space after winning the ball. - The defender tries to close down the attacker as early as possible so that the attacker cannot build up speed, and if possible positions his body between himself and the attacker with the shoulder forward. - The defender should close off the path to the goal. Stand offset to the side so that the attacker must take the route away from the goal. The defender also tries to use the offside rule. - 7 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
