Ball Reception with Back to Goal

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a goal and two starting cones (I+II) as shown. One player positions with his back to the goal at starting cone I, the remaining players with a ball at cone II.

Procedure

Player A plays a high ball to B. Player B receives the ball from the air, turns toward the goal, and finishes with the second touch. Directly after the pass, player A takes B's position, etc.

Tip

- Make sure that shooting with both right and left foot is trained. - The ball reception and control should be a fluid movement. Excessive bouncing of the ball or reception deviating from a path aligned toward the goal should be avoided. - When receiving the ball with the chest, the upper body is turned toward the goal at the moment of contact, so that the next touch can be a targeted shot on goal. - For the volley shot, the upper body is slightly bent forward. The ball is struck at a low point (not too high). This gives the ball more power and greater accuracy. - For the drop kick, the ball is struck with the instep at the exact moment it touches the ground. - 2 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
