Set up a cone on the field for each player. The distance between cones should be chosen so that each player has enough space to perform the drill undisturbed. Each player has a ball.
Procedure
The players juggle the ball. After a certain number of touches, they play the ball into the air and receive it with the inside or outside of the foot. After the ball reception and control with one touch, a short sprint follows (approx. 2 metres). Then the sequence (juggling, aerial ball, ball reception/control, sprint) starts over. Variation 1: Instead of to the side, the ball can also be controlled forward with the sole of the foot.
Tip
- The drill allows players to choose whether to play the ball straight up or forward into their run. However, both ball reception and control from a standstill as well as from movement should be practised. - The ball must be brought under control by the player at the moment it touches the ground. When executed correctly, the ball doesn't bounce off the ground and can be carried directly by the player. - To prevent the ball from bouncing and to ensure a fluid and fast ball reception and control, the player must have good timing and the correct technique of ball handling. - The ball should not bounce more than 50 cm - 1 metre from the foot after receiving it. - Always train ball reception/control with both feet. - When controlling the ball with the sole, the upper body should stay upright and the toes should be pulled up. - 1 cone or more
