Basic Passing/Receiving and First Touch I

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

Set up cone goals; the players position themselves between the cone goals.

Procedure

The players facing each other pass the ball using the right (left) inside of the foot. After playing the pass, the ball is received with the right (left) inside of the foot and passed back, etc. Alternative: - Pass with the right (left) inside of the foot, stop the ball with the right (left) inside of the foot and play it back, then run backwards around a cone. - Receive with the right (left) foot, pass with the left (right) foot (Tip: Receiving and first touch with one ball contact so that the ball lands in front of the left (right) foot when receiving with the right (left) foot and can be played directly. - Reduce the distance to 2 - 3 metres and pass directly while performing skipping movements (Goal: 100 contacts). - Alternate between instep kick, inside of the foot pass, or outside of the foot pass.

Tip

- When receiving the ball and taking the first touch, the plant foot is often too far from the ball or the player frequently leans backward. The plant foot should be placed 30 - 40 cm to the side of or level with the ball. - When passing or controlling the ball, the foot should be slightly raised and swung downward toward the ball. - Many players control the ball with the instep or the outside of the foot. Receiving and controlling the ball with the inside of the foot, slightly leaning over the ball, is significantly easier as a first step. - 4 cones or more
