  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Procedure

Two players stand behind cones placed 6-8 metres apart and pass the ball to each other.

• Player A passes the ball straight (longline) with the left inside of the foot to Player B.
• B controls the ball with the right inside of the foot onto the left foot and passes back to A with the left inside of the foot.
• A performs the receiving and first touch with one contact from the right foot to the left foot and passes again to B.

Alternative:
• Both players stand behind a cone.
• Player C passes the ball diagonally with the right inside of the foot to Player D.
• D controls the ball with the right inside of the foot onto the left foot and passes diagonally back to C with the left inside of the foot.
• D performs the receiving and first touch with one contact from the left to the right foot and passes with the second contact diagonally back to D.

Explanation:
• 1 and 3 describe the passing lanes.
• 2 and 4 are running paths and first touches.

Tip

• Always make sure that both the receiving/first touch and the foot and body positioning during the pass are executed correctly.
• Don't forget to practise with both feet.
• When receiving the ball, the plant foot is often too far from the ball or the player tends to lean backward. The plant foot should therefore be placed 30 - 40 cm to the side of or level with the ball.
• When passing or controlling the ball, the foot should be slightly raised and swung downward toward the ball.
