  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players, 10-15 players

Setup

• Basics of Defensive 1v1

Procedure

  • Attackers position themselves at the halfway line with their balls. Defenders stand facing the attackers, approximately 3-4 meters apart.
  • Upon the trainer's signal, the attacker dribbles towards the penalty area. The defender takes a side-on position and backs off, trying not to actively win the ball while the attacker tries not to penetrate.
  • When the players reach the penalty area, they switch roles.

Variation:

  • Upon the trainer's signal, the defender is allowed to actively win the ball, and the attacker attempts to penetrate.

Tip

Coaching Points:

  • Offer the opponent one side (weak foot or dribbling path towards the outside).
  • Maintain a low center of gravity.
  • Back off and maintain distance.
