Bouncing Balls

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

The goalkeeper is in the goal. The goalkeeper coach stands with balls 11-20 m in front of the goal.

Procedure

The goalkeeper coach shoots via volley or throws balls that bounce one or more times in front of the goal. He continuously varies both the shot/throw speed and the number of bounces.

Tip

- Due to the varying number of bounces and the changing ball speed, the goalkeeper is forced to intensely fix his eyes on the ball until the very end. - Just before the goalkeeper coach strikes the ball, the goalkeeper makes a small two-footed hop or a short step forward, spreads the arms to the sides, slightly bends the knees, and stands on the balls of the feet. The feet point toward the coach and are about hip-width apart, the upper body leans slightly forward, and the eyes fix on the ball. - The goalkeeper tries to get his body behind the ball regardless of how the ball comes toward the goal. - The goal is to hold the ball. If this fails, the goalkeeper should deflect the ball to the side. - 1 full-size goal(s)
