Central Attack from a 4 3 3

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19, Men's / Women's
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Pitch: Cones mark the playing area; there are three mini goals at one side and a goal at the other end.

Equipment: 3 mini goals, 1 goal, cones and several balls.

Players: Two groups of four — one holding midfielder and three forwards against four defenders; plus a goalkeeper.

Procedure

  • The holding midfielder starts the play with a pass to one of the three forwards.
  • The forwards try to score a goal.
  • If the defenders win the ball, they finish into the mini goals as quickly as possible.

Tip

  • Take the ball with the foot furthest from the opponent.
  • Do so in a sideways-on position to the opponent in order to keep the distance between ball and opponent as large as possible.
  • In this sideways-on position the front of the body faces the centre, so that the ball can be taken infield.
  • Finish attacks off promptly.
