Central Attacks with Options Level 1 Variations I-III

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

A passing station is set up with cones according to the respective variation. Two players go to cone I, two players to cone II, and one player to cone IV. Cone III remains unoccupied. The balls are at starting cone I.

Procedure

Variation 1: Player B passes the ball to player C and follows his pass to cone II. C passes the ball toward cone III. Simultaneously with C's backswing, player D starts toward the ball and passes it, if possible directly on the run, to player E. D follows his pass and lines up at cone IV, player E does a speed dribble to cone I. This sequence now repeats continuously. The second round is opened by a pass from player A to B, who passes the ball toward cone III, where it is passed on by player C to player D. Variation 2: Player B plays a one-two with player D, then passes to C and follows his pass to cone II. C passes the ball to D and stands next to cone II. Player D starts toward the ball and passes it, if possible directly on the run, to player E. D follows his pass and lines up at cone IV, player E does a speed dribble to cone I. This sequence now repeats continuously. The second round is opened by a pass from player A. Variation 3: Player B plays a long pass into the running path of player D and runs to cone II. D then passes to cone III into the run of player C and positions himself at cone II. C passes the ball to E, who passes it, if possible directly on the run, to player E. C follows his pass and lines up at cone IV, player E does a speed dribble to cone I. This sequence now repeats continuously. The second round is opened by a pass from player A.

Tip

- Make sure the rehearsed movement patterns lead to a fast, fluid overall movement. - Constantly demand accuracy and tempo (slow execution will not lead to match-realistic success in the long run). - Players should learn (similar to a match) to observe and apply what they have observed. - Constantly correct mistakes to prevent the development of wrong automatisms. - Eyes should regularly be lifted from the ball (alternating gaze between ball and forward). - The player expecting the pass makes a short check-away move at the same time as the passer's backswing, or runs toward the passer and receives the pass while moving forward with one touch, or passes directly on. - The pass should be played into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The passer must observe the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The check-away move of the pass receiver starts with the passer's backswing. - This passing pattern requires a high degree of concentration and game intelligence, as well as communication among the players. - Pass pace and accuracy are crucial for a successful sequence. - 12 cones
