Central Attacks with Options Level 3 Combined Variations I-III
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players10-15 players
Setup
On one half of the field, two passing stations are set up with cones as shown in the diagram. One player goes to each of cones II, III, V, and VI, and three players go to each of cones I and IV. The balls are in the goal. A goalkeeper is in the goal.
Procedure
The exercise starts with a long throw, punt, or goal kick from the goalkeeper to player A (1). A passes the ball from cone I to player B (2) and runs diagonally toward the centre of the field, where B plays the ball into his run (3). Player A passes the ball from there into the run of player C (4), who finishes on goal (5). A now moves to cone II and B goes to C's position at cone VI. Player C moves to cone I after the shot (5). Then the next attack starts at cone IV with the goalkeeper passing the ball to player D, who passes it on to E.
Tip
- Make sure the rehearsed movement patterns lead to a fast, fluid overall movement. - Constantly demand accuracy and tempo (slow execution will not lead to match-realistic success in the long run). - Players should learn (similar to a match) to observe and apply what they have observed. - Constantly correct mistakes to prevent the development of wrong automatisms. - Eyes should regularly be lifted from the ball (alternating gaze between ball and forward). - The player expecting the pass makes a short check-away move at the same time as the passer's backswing. - The pass should be played into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The passer must observe the running path of the player expecting the ball. - This passing combination requires a high degree of game intelligence and a harmony of passing accuracy, starting timing, and correct running paths. - This is a match-realistic central attack pattern, starting the first passing combination with the positioning of two strikers, two midfielders in the half-spaces, and two centre backs. - 6 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
