Close-Range Shots to the Corners

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

The goalkeeper stands in the goal. The goalkeeper coach positions himself with balls in a central position approximately 11 m in front.

Procedure

From close range, the coach shoots at the goal. He varies his shots: - Low to the centre/corners. - Half-high to the centre/corners. - High to the centre/corners. The goalkeeper tries to save the balls and return to his basic position in the centre of the goal after each action.

Tip

- The goalkeeper reacts as soon as the ball leaves the coach's foot. - The takeoff is performed either without or with only one intermediate step. Multiple steps result in too much time lost. The body weight is on the push-off leg during takeoff. - The goalkeeper jumps to the side with a swing step. To the right by swinging through the right foot and pushing off sideways through the balls of the feet. To the left by swinging through the left foot. - In this movement sequence, the hands and face point toward the coach. - The goal is to hold onto the ball or deflect it to the side. - The shooting and action frequency can be varied. Either a short break after each shot or after a series of shots (e.g., 3-5 shots - 2 minutes break). - 1 full-size goal(s)
