Combination Slalom Run Through Cones + Forward Roll and Subsequent Shot/Thrown Ball
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players1 - 5 players
Setup
Set up a cone course positioned at an angle to the goal. The goalkeeper stands at the far starting cone; the goalkeeper coach (GC) is positioned centrally in front of the goal at a distance of 14-22 metres depending on age group. The balls are with the goalkeeper coach.
Procedure
The goalkeeper does a slalom run through the cones. Immediately after passing the last cone, he makes a 45-degree direction change and performs a forward roll away from the goal. Then he receives a shot or throw from the goalkeeper coach.n Movement sequence: 1 - Slalom run 2 - Forward roll 3 - Shot/ball throw by the coach
Tip
- Quick, short movements through the cones. - The forward roll is performed from a standing crouch with a mini diving motion forward, followed by rolling over the back/buttocks. The hands/arms serve as a lever. - After the forward roll, the goalkeeper must immediately reorient himself. The first ground contact with the feet after the roll serves as the takeoff toward the ball and is a fluid movement. - The feet point toward the coach and are about hip-width apart, the upper body leans slightly forward, and the eyes are fixed on the ball. - The goal is to hold onto the ball. If this is not possible, the ball should be parried to the side. - 5 cones, 1 full-size goal(s)
