Tip
- In this exercise, the player must tilt the head back so the ball can bounce vertically upward off the forehead. - The contact surface is the forehead. - The player slightly arches the back, keeping the eyes constantly on the ball. - The arms are at the sides of the body and bent at the elbows (similar to carrying a crate of water). - Closing the eyes shortly before the ball touches the forehead is normal and happens instinctively. - The legs are slightly bent at the knees. Through a springy motion originating from the calf muscles, the head is moved upward toward the ball just before contact. This causes the ball to bounce upward off the forehead. - Make sure the impulse from the calf muscles is not executed too early, as the effect would be lost and the ball cannot bounce upward. Also make sure the impulse is not too strong, as the ball would bounce too high off the forehead and become harder to control.
