Creating Space on the Wing I

Setup

  • 1 goal
  • 1 ball per round
  • 10 cones

Procedure

  • Player A dribbles forward while player B offers support simultaneously.
  • A passes to B, player C runs at pace towards the halfway line to create space on the wing for player D.
  • Player D starts along the line.
  • Player B passes directly to player D, who moves into the now open space.
  • Player D dribbles to the goal line.
  • Player E runs to the near post, and player F crosses, runs behind E, and occupies the far post.
  • Player D crosses to the center where E & F attempt to score.

Tip

Coaching Points

  • If enough players are available, alternate training from left and right.
  • Demand precise and assertive passing.
  • Players should find their timing through practice.
  • Player C should create space at pace.
  • Player B should aim to pass directly to D.
  • Player D should be wary of offside (cones represent goal).
  • Forwards E & F should not run into the cross too early.
