Setup

Pitch: Mark out an area of 20 x 20 metres with four cones and add an area of 5 x 5 metres at two diagonally opposite corners. The two corner areas are marked with flat markers in different colours, each team is given one of them.

Equipment: 4 cones, flat markers in two colours, at least as many balls as players, bibs.

Players: Two teams. At the start the balls lie in the two corner areas. With larger groups up to 4 teams can be formed, in which case an area of 5 x 5 metres is marked out at all 4 corners.

Procedure

  • Each team has its own corner area which it has to defend while at the same time attacking the opposition corner area.
  • The players dribble with the balls out of their own area into the opposition area and leave them there.
  • The opponents try to prevent this, to win the balls and to bring them back into their own area.
  • Balls that have already been left behind may be retrieved by dribbling.

Scoring: The team that has more balls lying in its own area at the end has lost.

Note: Drill idea by Eddie Plickat.

Tip

  • Make the teams as equal in strength as possible.
  • Before the game each team can set an extra task for the loser.
  • Coordinating attack and defence within the team is decisive, the players should talk to each other.
