Setup

The goalkeeper coach and the goalkeeper stand 3-5 m apart facing each other. The goalkeeper coach holds a ball in each hand.

Procedure

The goalkeeper coach throws the ball toward the goalkeeper so that, depending on the throw direction, the goalkeeper must jump forward, left, right, or backward to catch the ball. The goalkeeper throws the caught ball back to the goalkeeper coach from the ground, stands up, and immediately receives the next ball.

Tip

- This exercise primarily trains takeoff timing, takeoff power, and flight and catching technique. - The goalkeeper starts his action as soon as the ball leaves the coach's hand. - The takeoff is either forward or to the side. The body weight is on the push-off leg at takeoff. - The goalkeeper jumps with a swing step to the side or forward. To the right by generating momentum through the right foot and pushing off laterally over the balls of the feet. To the left by generating momentum through the left foot. - During this movement sequence, the hands and face point toward the coach.
