Double One-Two with Defender

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Three cones are set up in a triangle formation as shown in the diagram. At the top cone, three players stand; at the bottom cone, two players. At the side cone, one player stands, and inside the triangle on the field, another player.

Procedure

A first plays a one-two with player B and then another one-two with C. In doing so, he plays the ball past the passive defender D and gets open to the left. There he takes the through ball played by D in stride and dribbles at maximum speed back to his starting position. Then player C starts the same passing exercise in the other direction. Now a player from the opposite side acts as the defender. Alternative: Player C becomes active and can freely move to the left or right.

Tip

- The player expecting the ball starts his decoy run at the same time as the passer's delivery motion. - The wall-passer must adjust his running speed to the pass speed. - Do not place the standing foot too far from the ball and ensure the players do not lean backward. - The pass timing and start timing are crucial. - Players often run faster than they pass. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy. - The first touch should be taken with one contact. - 3 cones
