Dribbling from Various Starting Positions

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players

Setup

The goalkeeper stands in the goal. The goalkeeper coach (GC) takes any position with the ball at 12-25 m distance from the goal. After each round, the GC starts from a new position (the diagram shows different possible positions for the GC).

Procedure

The GC dribbles toward the goal and tries to beat the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper tries to win the 1v1 situation. Intensity: 6-8 rounds.

Tip

- The goalkeeper should only watch the ball and not react to body feints from the GC. - Stay on his feet as long as possible, spread arms and adopt a shoulder-width stance. - Close down the angle for the attacker by rushing out quickly. Slow down the tempo just before reaching the attacker and move lightly on the balls of the feet. - Don't spread the legs too wide. - The goalkeeper comes out no further than the penalty spot. - 1 full-size goal(s)
