Dribbling, Passing, Ball Control, Feint Application

  • Age U6 - U13
  • Training Set Progression
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

A square is formed and on two sides three cones are arranged in a row.

Procedure

The players position themselves at the outer cones. Players A + B at the starting cone receive a ball, dribble forward, and pass the ball at the latest at the level of the middle cone to the player standing opposite. This player runs toward the pass, takes the ball with one touch while moving, and passes to the next player. After the pass, the players follow their pass to the cone and line up there. Running paths: Player A: 1 - dribble forward, 2 - pass, 3 - run to the opposite cone Player C: 4 - start running, 5 - first touch Variation: Same exercise sequence as before, except that the players beat the middle cone with a feint (stepover, pirouette, shot fake, American fake, etc.) and then play the pass. Running paths: Player B: 1 - dribble forward, 2 - feint, 3 - pass, 4 - run through Player D: 5 - start, 6 - first touch

Tip

- The plant foot should be placed 30 - 40 cm to the side of or level with the ball. - For the inside of the foot pass, the toe points upward, the ankle is firmly tensed, and the upper body leans slightly forward over the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, slightly raise the kicking foot, and strike the ball in the centre. Bring the body over the ball and do not lean backward. - After striking the ball, follow through with the leg. - Pay attention to the arms! When passing with the right inside of the foot, the left arm goes to the right hip; when using the left inside of the foot, the right arm goes to the left hip! - For the instep pass, the ankle is extended, toes point to the ground, and the upper body leans slightly over the ball. - When playing the ball with the outside of the foot, the player can easily lean backward. - For the inside of the foot kick, the player moves laterally offset to the ball and the body goes into a tilted position. - Demand pass sharpness and accuracy. - The pass-expecting player starts his running path when the passer begins the backswing. - When taking the first touch, lean slightly over the ball. The ball can be controlled with the outside of the foot or the inside of the foot. - Controlling the ball with the outside of the foot often allows for faster acceleration. - The feint execution should be started about two metres before the middle cone. - Make sure the ball techniques are performed with both feet. - The feint execution should begin after the first ball contact, which is the first touch. This means that the correct first touch is of great importance. The ball must not be controlled too softly or too firmly. It must be taken toward the cone and not bouncing to the side. - 6 cones
