Dribbling, Passing, Ball Reception and Control

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up the drill as shown in the diagram. Player distribution: B and C at the upper starting cone, player A at the lower cone. The balls are at the upper starting cone.

Procedure

Starting player B begins with a speed dribble toward player A and passes the ball to him. A receives the ball to the side and performs the same drill sequence to player C, and so on.

Tip

The ball is dribbled at maximum speed. - The feint is executed directly at the height of the cone gate. - The pass is played sharply into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The player expecting the ball makes a short check-away run as soon as the passer begins the passing motion, then starts running toward the ball. - The lateral ball reception and control is performed with the inside of the foot or the outside of the foot. - The ball reception and control should be one fluid movement. The ball bouncing too far away or a reception deviating from the straight running path should be avoided. - All ball-related drills should be practised with both the right and left foot. - 5 cones
