Dribbling + Passing + Ball Reception/Control

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up 9 cones as shown in the diagram. The players distribute evenly at the diagonally opposite starting positions between the outer cones. Distribute the balls evenly on both starting sides.

Procedure

The two starting players E + D start simultaneously with a straight dribble to the height of the middle cones. There they pass the ball diagonally to the next player. In this case, E passes to B and D passes to A. These players should receive the ball with one touch while running and then start their own dribble to the middle cone gate with a subsequent diagonal pass. This cycle of dribbling, passing, and position switching continues permanently. Variations: - Different ball control techniques (inside of the foot, outside of the foot, laces, sole, sole/inside). - A feint can be added before the pass (stepover, shot fake, pirouette, etc.).

Tip

- The dribblers carry the ball at maximum speed and pass the ball sharply into the running path of the player waiting for the ball. - The player expecting the ball makes a short check-away run as soon as the passer begins the passing motion, then starts running toward the ball. - The ball reception and control should be one fluid movement. The ball bouncing too far away or a reception deviating from the straight running path should be avoided. - 9 cones
