Dribbling/Passing in the Diamond with Focus on Ball Control with 1v1 Duels
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players1 - 5 players
Setup
4 cones are set up as a diamond. The players position themselves with balls at the cones according to the diagram.
Procedure
A passes the ball to B. B takes the ball at full speed and tries to dribble to the other side. A tries to prevent this. A 1v1 situation develops. If A wins the ball, he tries to dribble to the other side. Then players C + D start.
Tip
- When the passer goes into his passing motion, that is the start signal for the player expecting the ball. - In this exercise, start timing and ball control are of the highest importance. The passing player must also continue running directly after the pass. - Defensive duel (winning the ball is the top priority! Don't just kick the ball away.) - Position the body so that the opponent is pushed away from the goal toward the outside. Close down the path to the end line. Stand sideways, show one side; lure the opponent where you want him; then push your body in between to win the ball. - Stand on the balls of the feet, not flat-footed. - Try to reduce the opponent's speed. (This buys time for other defenders in a real game situation.) - Attacking duel If possible, approach the opponent at full speed. At slow speed, try to use a body feint. - 4 cones
