Procedure
Both teams play against each other, with one team always having 8 players and the other always having 6 players on the field, alternating. The defending team starts with 6 field players, the attacking team with 8. The two players from the defending team not involved in the game run a lap around the entire field. As soon as they complete a lap, two players from the other team must run a lap, and so on.
Tip
- The focus of this game format is on practising the movement patterns in the defensive unit with the follow-up actions of 'quick transition from defence to attack' and ball control after winning possession. Additionally, the team in possession practices off-the-ball movement with the goal of scoring. - The goal for the defenders is to either win possession or force the attacker into a non-dangerous area to the side and, through double-teaming or tucking in, block the passing lane to the goal/to a teammate. The midfielder tries to double-team or close the passing lane. - On offence, constant movement and quick, precise passing is required. A deep staggering of players should be maintained according to the 2-4-2 formation (variable 4-3-1, etc.), and consequently, moving on a flat line should be avoided (deep staggering means creating passing options). The wide players should use the full width of the field and position themselves at the sideline. - When the attack is carried through the wide players, the half-space players try to overlap or act as passing targets and crossers from the back area. The wide player has the option to dribble, cross, or pass. - Through passes into depth (to the strikers), the defensive line is drawn into forward movement. By switching the ball to the flanks, the defensive line is forced to shift forward and sideways. This creates space in depth for the attacking team and also the opportunity to switch play diagonally to the open side. - The attack must be completed under a certain time pressure. Because once the two outside runners have completed their lap, they rejoin the game and the team in possession becomes the outnumbered team. Thus their task changes to ball control while outnumbered. - 2 full-size goal(s)
