Engage 2 on 2

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

Four players position themselves on the field according to the diagram. The two blue players A and B act as defenders, the two red players are the attackers. The ball's starting position is with the red player C.

Procedure

When completing the drill: Player C starts with a pass to D. As soon as C moves to pass the ball defender B comes running to/attacks player D. When leaving his defensive position in the direction of D, the defensive position of player B is taken over by player A. Then the players go back into their starting positions. The players whom the ball is played to change in a counterclockwise direction after each passage (so D to C, then B to C etc).

Tip

1 full-court goal(s), This exercise is a dry run. No tackling takes place. The primary function of the exercise is the learning of paths in soccer.\n- The exercise should be repeatedly trained as many times as possible (automation of movement sequences).\n- A precise and powerful passing game should be paid attention to. - The start signal for the counter reaction is when the passer of the ball moves to pass. The lateral distance between the players should consist of approximately 7-12m. The playing pairs stand approximately 15m opposite each other.
