Exercise CW 10: One-Two with Overlapping Dribble

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Progression, Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Six cones are placed as shown. It is recommended to place tall cones or flag poles at the outer cone positions (see diagram). This has the advantage that the players must run around the cones and cannot jump over them. Two players stand on each side, 10-15 metres apart facing each other. The exercise is suitable for 6-10 players.

Procedure

First, a flat or high pass is played from Player A to B. Player B lays the ball off to the side into the run of A. Player A dribbles to the cone, curves around wall passer B, runs with the ball to the opposite tall cone, and then dribbles to the other group. After the speed dribble, the player joins the back of the red group. The red group with Player D and wall passer C performs the exercise simultaneously with mirrored running paths (as drawn). Alternative: This exercise can also be run as a competition. Both groups start simultaneously as described. The group whose player reaches the opposing team first with the ball scores a point. The team with the most points wins.

Tip

Attention: The players must always keep an eye on the opposing player so they do not obstruct each other when their paths cross. - Pass and start timing are often off because the start or pass comes too early or late. - The player expecting the ball always takes a step back in a dynamic jump movement and then comes one step toward the ball. - When laying the ball off, slightly lift the foot - Pass sharp and accurate. - Often the player runs faster than he passes. - 6 cones
