Exercise CW03: Shooting at One Goal with Football-Specific Action Combinations from Both Sides Simultaneously
AgeU6 - U13, U14 - U19
Training SetMain point
Number of Players1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players
Setup
Set up two opposing courses with hurdles and cones. In the middle, set up a goal as shown in the diagram with a goalkeeper inside. Balls are distributed beside the cones on the field. Players are split between the two courses at the starting cones beside the goal, lining up one behind the other. In the centre of the field, two cones are placed on the left and right.
Procedure
Player A jumps over a hurdle, sprints to the ball, dribbles with it to the cone, and shoots. Player B simultaneously jumps over a hurdle as well, sprints to the ball, dribbles with it around the cones, and shoots. Player A is typically faster since he has the shorter route, so both players can start nearly at the same time.
Tip
- The goal is to promote fast, explosive movements and acceleration paired with game-realistic techniques (dribbling, shooting). - Pay attention to shot power and accuracy when shooting on goal. - Palms are open — do not make fists. - Light, easy footwork — no stomping or pounding, rather light-footedness. - Fast, short movements. - Short ground contact time. - Sprint: Start in a staggered stance on the balls of the feet. At the beginning, the upper body leans far forward, the centre of gravity is at hip level, the gaze is down. After a powerful push-off from the balls of the feet, the upper body is gradually raised, the gaze lifts, and the stride frequency increases. The arms move actively in opposition to the legs (when the right leg goes forward, the left arm goes forward, and vice versa). After the first 3-4 steps on the balls of the feet, the foot rolls through the whole foot (heel to sole to ball of foot), the upper body is upright and quiet, and the stride frequency increases to maximum. - 2 hurdle(s), 6 cones
