Set up a square using four cones. At the starting position, two players stand with a ball; at the remaining three cones, one player each is positioned.
Procedure
The exercise can be performed in two variants. Variant 1: 5 players, 1 ball Player A sprints with the ball toward player B. At B's cone, the ball is exchanged at full speed, then player B sprints diagonally to player C. The rest of the sequence continues as before (see diagram). Each ball exchange is done with a short pass (1-2 m). Variant 2: 6 players, 2 balls. The same sequence as Variant 1. The two ball positions are diagonally opposite and each double-staffed. This variant is only practical once Variant 1 has been practised and well-executed.
Tip
- When dribbling, the ball should be no more than 50 centimetres from the foot. Focus on small steps. - Accuracy before speed. - The most effective method is to guide the ball with the outside of the foot and occasionally correct with the inside. - During the ball exchange, the ball must not be passed too hard. - The player expecting the ball positions himself slightly offset so it is clear to the passer which foot he wants to receive with. - The player expecting the ball starts his counter-movement simultaneously with the passer's kicking motion. - During ball reception and carrying, the standing foot is often placed too far from the ball, or the player frequently leans backward. - When passing or receiving the ball, the foot should be slightly raised and swung downward toward the ball. - Many players receive the ball with the instep or outside of the foot. Receiving and carrying with the inside of the foot, slightly leaning over the ball, is much easier as a first step. - 4 cones
