Exercise CW08: Passing with Crosses and Finishing at Goal Variant I

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 6 - 9 players

Setup

Set up a cone square as shown in the diagram. Each cone is staffed with one player. Three additional players are placed as follows: two players beside the 18-yard box and one player beside the goal on the goal line. (1) Shot on goal

Procedure

The exercise begins with a diagonal pass from player A to C inside the square. Player C lays the ball off to player B, who in turn plays a diagonal pass to player D. D lays the ball off short for player C, who after a short sprint takes a shot on goal. After the finish, D now sprints into the penalty area to finish either: a) a cross from G b) a cross from E c) a back pass from F Afterward, all players rotate one station forward.

Tip

- The player expecting the ball always takes a step back in a dynamic jump movement and then moves one step toward the ball. - Play passes sharp, accurate, and flat. - When laying off, slightly lift the foot. - Correct start timing when making crossing runs. - The crosses and return passes should be played sharply. - 4 cones
