Exercise CW10: Shot with Wall Player Beside the Goal

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point
  • Number of Players 1 - 5 players, 6 - 9 players

Setup

The goalkeeper stands in the goal. Set up a starting cone for the players. A wall player positions himself beside the goal. The balls are with the players at the starting cone, 16-22 metres away.

Procedure

The player at the starting cone passes to the wall player standing beside the goal and runs toward the goal. The wall player passes the ball back into the player's run so that he can shoot directly on goal. Then the next player starts from the starting cone, and so on. The wall player is rotated regularly. The goalkeeper tries to save the shots. Variations: 1. The starting player receives the ball and shoots with the second touch. 2. The starting player plays a flat pass or a lofted ball. 3. The wall player returns the ball flat or high. 4. Competition: Count goals. The wall player may finish the rebound. In this variation, the wall player may leave his position after returning the ball and actively try to score on the rebound.

Tip

- The goalkeeper always orients himself to the respective shooter. - Due to the high variability of shots, the goalkeeper must react differently depending on the chosen shooting technique. - The goalkeeper's goal is always to catch and hold the ball. - The goalkeeper reacts as soon as the ball leaves the shooter's foot. - The dive is performed either without or with only one intermediate step. Multiple steps represent too much time loss. The body weight rests on the push-off leg during the dive. - The goalkeeper dives to the side with a swing step. To the right by driving off the right foot and pushing off laterally from the balls of the feet. To the left by driving off the left foot. - The goal for the field players is to learn the correct inside-of-the-foot shot, instep kick, inside kick, and curving technique, thereby increasing shot power and accuracy. - 1 full-size goal(s), 2 cones
