Exercise CW32: Central Attacks with Options Level 2 Variants I-III

  • Age U6 - U13, U14 - U19
  • Training Set Main point

Setup

Use cones to set up a passing station according to the respective variant. Three players go to cone I, two players to cone II, and one player to cone III. The balls are at starting cone I.

Procedure

Variant 1: Player B passes to player C and follows his pass to cone II. C passes to player D and runs to cone III. Simultaneously with C's kicking motion, player D starts toward the ball and passes it directly into player E's run. D lines up at cone II; player E tries to score and goes to cone I. This sequence then repeats continuously. Variant 2: Player B plays a one-two with player D, then passes to C and runs to cone II. C passes to D and stands next to cone II. Player D passes directly into player E's run; E tries to score. D runs to cone III, and the player goes to cone I after the shot. Variant 3: Player B plays a long pass into player D's run and runs to cone II. D then passes into player C's run and positions himself at cone II. C passes into E's run; E tries to score. C lines up at cone III, and player E positions himself at cone I after his shot.

Tip

- Make sure the practised movement patterns lead to a fast, fluid overall movement. - Continuously demand accuracy and tempo (slow execution will not lead to game-realistic success in the long run). - Players should learn to observe (similar to a real game) and apply what they observe. - Continuously correct mistakes to prevent the development of incorrect habits. - The gaze should regularly be lifted from the ball (alternating between looking at the ball and looking forward). - The player expecting the pass makes a short counter-movement simultaneously with the passer's kicking motion. - The pass should be played into the running path of the player expecting the ball. - The passer must observe the running path of the player expecting the ball. - These passing combinations require a high degree of tactical intelligence and harmony between pass accuracy, start timing, and the correct running paths. - 1 full-size goal(s), 9 cones
